Recently, I have let a love for emeralds grow into an obsession. My mother let me wear her wedding ring (on my middle finger, of course) while we were out to dinner the other night. She and my father designed it in the early '80s and it is the most unique ring I've ever seen. It has a princess-cut diamond flanked by two emeralds, all three stones of equal size and shape, set on a very thick gold band. I couldn't stop staring at it throughout dinner, and while I love diamonds as well as the style of 1980's jewelry, it was the emeralds that really caught my eye. I love other green stones as well - green onyx and aventurine, malachite, and jade. These stones look fantastic on every skin tone, and can be worn both with evening gowns and jeans.
