As I mentioned in my recent L.A. post, I am getting ready for a trip that consists of two long plane rides (it takes me longer to fly to L.A. than it does to London). Often when I pack for trips, I concentrate so much on the clothes I'm bringing that I forget about carry-on necessities. I am packing for a trip to the City of Angels, and know that my daily downtown-NYC-uniform of black jeans, boots, and a fur-collared leather jacket will probably be inappropriate in sunny southern California where everyone is tan and wearing brightly colored jersey. Like many American women, I have an insanely wild, passionate love for the city of Paris. I love the architecture, the history, the restaurants and nightlife. I love the language, I love the attitude. And of course, I love the women and their seemingly effortless, classic sense of style.
I studied abroad in the City of Light, and completely immersed myself - I ate escargot, drank white wine daily with lunch, watched French films I could hardly follow, and I danced, laughed and debated politics with Parisian strangers. The soul of the city latched on to something inside of me, and I don't think I'll ever be able to shake it off.
